About me

I'm a 26-year-old Data Science major at De Anza College, originally from Taiwan. I dropped out of college when I was younger, I put everything on hold to chase my dream of traveling the world—but as a Taiwanese, that meant serving in the military first. However Covid happened, and instead of traveling, I ended up becoming a sailor. For three years, I worked at sea—one year in Taiwan and two abroad—sailing across the Indian Ocean, East Africa, the Maldives, the Mediterranean, and Japan. At one point, I sailed across the Indian Ocean for 12 days with just one other person.

Those years taught me how to stay calm under pressure, think on my feet, and lead when it matters most. Now, as a member of the DASG Finance Committee, I’m bringing that same mindset to managing student funds. I speak English, Spanish, and Chinese fluently, lived in Spain for a year, and have traveled to over 35 countries. And now? I’m running for Chair of Finance—because I know what it takes to navigate challenges and make things happen.

Experience

Private Yacht Operator

I managed and operated a 44ft catamaran sailboat in the Maldives for a year and a half. I was in control of the budget and in charge of many operation. I learned that detail is the key when handling money.
